Dockli lets you move and copy files the way Windows does — Cut, Copy, Paste and drag-and-drop — but across the whole Microsoft 365 estate: between SharePoint sites, between libraries, between File Explorer windows, and even between different Microsoft accounts.
The virtual clipboard
Dockli keeps its own clipboard so a Cut or Copy in one place can be Pasted somewhere completely different. Because it’s shared across windows, you can copy in one Explorer window and paste in another.
Cut and copy
Select one or more files or folders, then:
- Cut — Ctrl + X, or the Cut button in the right-click menu’s icon row. Cut rows dim to show they’re queued to move.
- Copy — Ctrl + C, or the Copy button in the icon row.
The right-click icon row also holds Rename (single item only) and Delete. Cut, Rename and Delete are disabled unless you have the matching permission on every selected item; Copy is always available because it only reads.
Paste
Navigate to the destination — any folder in any site or library — and paste:
- Ctrl + V, or right-click empty space and choose the paste command.
The paste command names what’s on the clipboard: Paste "Report.docx" for a single item, or Paste 5 items for several. When the destination can’t accept items, the command is disabled.
Same-tenant moves and copies run through Microsoft Graph with a live progress toast — Moving "Report.docx"… or Copying 5 items… with a percentage — and finish with a Moved/Copied confirmation. If a name already exists at the destination, Dockli prompts you to Replace or Skip.
Cut once, paste anywhere
A Cut survives navigation, so you can cut in one site, browse to a folder in a completely different site or library, and paste there. Pasting a cut clears the clipboard once the move is done.
Drag-and-drop between panes
With split view on, drag files from one pane and drop them into a folder in the other.
- Drop without holding a key and Dockli asks what you meant with a small menu: Move N items here, Copy N items here, or Cancel.
- Hold Ctrl while dropping to copy directly, skipping the menu — matching the native Windows convention.
A drop onto a folder does the same Graph move (or copy) as Cut + Paste.
Copying across Microsoft accounts
Dockli can copy files between two different Microsoft accounts (tenants). The flow is deliberately explicit:
- Copy the files in the source account.
- Switch to the destination account (see Multiple accounts).
- Navigate to the destination folder and Paste.
Because the two accounts can’t talk to each other directly, Dockli streams the files through its local service and shows the cross-account copy progress modal:
- The title reads “Copying across accounts” while it runs, then “Copy complete” or “Copy failed”.
- A source → target line shows where the bytes are coming from and going to.
- An Overall progress bar reports bytes transferred, total size, and a live ETA (for example
~45s left). - A per-file bar shows File X of N, the current file name, and its own percentage.
- When it finishes you’ll see “N files copied” (or “1 file copied”).
- Cancel stops an in-progress copy; Done closes the modal when it’s finished. The rest of the app stays usable throughout — the modal doesn’t dim the screen.
Cross-account caveats
Two things work differently across accounts
- Cut becomes copy. Moving across accounts isn’t supported, so a Cut is carried out as a copy and the original is left untouched in the source account. The modal notes that files were “copied, not moved.”
- Folders can’t cross accounts (yet). Only files transfer. Any folders in your selection are skipped, and the summary tells you how many.
Cross-account limits
Cross-account copies are validated before any bytes move, against these caps:

Exceed one and the copy stops before it starts, with a clear message — for example that a file is larger than the 250 MB per-file limit, that the selection is over the 1 GB total limit, or that you can copy up to 50 files across accounts at once. See Limits and specifications for the full list.
Files also go to the Windows clipboard
When you Copy or Cut files in Dockli, they’re also placed on the Windows OS clipboard as virtual files — so you can paste them straight onto the Windows desktop or into another app, not just back into Dockli. Dockli tracks which clipboard is newest, so an in-app paste always does the right Graph move or copy while an external paste hands you the actual files.
