Recycle Bin

See what's been deleted from a SharePoint site and put it back — a filterable, sortable recycle bin built right into Dockli.

Last updated: July 2026

Deleted the wrong file? Dockli surfaces a SharePoint site’s recycle bin inside File Explorer so you can find what was removed and restore it — without opening a browser.

Opening the recycle bin

Look for the Recycle Bin button in the header action bar (between Split View and Refresh). Click it to switch the grid into recycle-bin mode; the button highlights while the bin is open, and its tooltip toggles between “View recycle bin” and “Exit recycle bin”. Click it again to return to browsing files.

The button only appears when both of these are true:

  • You’re in single view — the recycle bin is hidden while split view is on.
  • You’re inside a SharePoint-backed source — a SharePoint site, Hub Site, Team, or your OneDrive. Every Dockli source is backed by a SharePoint web with its own recycle bin.

If you navigate out of the site or turn on split view while the bin is open, Dockli automatically exits recycle-bin mode.

Reading the list

The recycle bin is a clean, sortable grid with four columns:

ColumnShows
NameThe deleted item’s name, with a file-type icon
Original locationWhere it lived before it was deleted
Date deletedWhen it was removed
Deleted byWho removed it

Click any column header to sort by it; click again to reverse the direction. The list opens sorted by Date deleted, most recent first.

Filtering

Two columns carry a funnel filter button that opens a small popover:

  • Original location“Filter by location”. Type into the “Contains…” box to narrow the list to matching paths, and use Clear to reset.
  • Date deleted“Deleted between”. Set a From and/or To date to keep only items removed in that window, and use Clear to reset.

An active filter keeps its funnel highlighted so you always know a view is filtered.

Restoring items

  1. Tick the checkbox on each item you want back (or click the row). The header checkbox selects or clears everything at once.
  2. A Restore button appears at the left of the header, labeled “Restore 1 item” or “Restore N items” to match your selection.
  3. Click it. Dockli restores each item to its original location and shows a confirmation toast — “Restored 1 item” or “Restored N items”.

Restored items drop out of the recycle-bin list and reappear where they came from. If some can’t be restored, Dockli tells you how many succeeded and how many failed.

View and restore only — there is no permanent delete

Dockli’s recycle bin is intentionally read-only apart from Restore. There is no empty-bin or permanent-delete action here. To permanently remove items or empty the recycle bin, use the SharePoint site’s own recycle bin in the browser.

Where deleted files come from

Anything you delete from the Dockli file grid goes into the same SharePoint recycle bin you see here — so the recycle bin is your safety net for accidental deletions. Because it’s the SharePoint recycle bin, items you or teammates delete through the SharePoint web also show up.

Empty, loading and error states

  • Loading — while Dockli fetches the bin you’ll see a “Loading recycle bin…” spinner.
  • Empty — when nothing has been deleted the grid reads “The recycle bin is empty.”
  • No matches — when a filter hides everything it reads “No items match the current filters.” Clear the filter to see the full list again.
  • Error — if the bin can’t be loaded, Dockli shows a “Could not load the recycle bin.” message. Use Refresh to try again.

Permissions

Listing and restoring items uses your existing SharePoint permissions — you can only see and restore what your account is allowed to.
