Favorites

Favorites are Dockli’s pins. Star a file, folder, library, SharePoint site or Team and it lands in your Favorites, grouped by what it is and reachable from anywhere in the app — no hunting through the tree.

Pinning from the file grid

Every row in the file list carries a star button at the far-right edge of the Name cell.

• On an unpinned row the star is hidden until you hover the row, then appears as a hollow outline. Its tooltip reads “Add to Favorites”.
• Click it once to pin. The star fills gold and now stays visible even when you move the mouse away, with the tooltip “Remove from Favorites”.
• Click a gold star to unpin. The row keeps its place; only the pin changes.

The star click never opens or selects the file — it only toggles the pin, so you can star a row without leaving where you are.

Pinning from the right-click menu

Right-click any file or folder and choose “Add to favorites” (or “Remove from favorites” if it’s already pinned). The menu item shows a star icon that mirrors the current state.

Multi-select pinning

Select several rows first (click, then Ctrl-click or Shift-click to extend), then right-click inside the selection. The menu shows a single batch action:

• If every selected item is already a favorite, it reads “Remove from favorites” and unpins the whole set.
• If any item in the selection is still unpinned, it reads “Add to favorites” and pins everything that isn’t already pinned (already-pinned items are left untouched).

Pinning whole sites and Teams from the sidebar

You don’t have to open a site to pin it. Star a SharePoint site, Hub Site or Microsoft Team straight from the sidebar to keep the entire source one click away. Pinned sites appear in the SharePoint Sites and Microsoft Teams groups of your Favorites, and your OneDrive can be pinned the same way.

Where your favorites live

The “My Favorites” sidebar trigger

The sidebar carries a My Favorites trigger with a count pill showing how many items you’ve pinned. Clicking it opens the Favorites mega-menu — a floating panel that sits above the workspace without pushing your navigation off-screen. There’s also a Favorites tab for browsing the same pinned set stacked vertically.

The mega-menu buckets your flat pin list into columns, and each column only appears when you actually have something in it:

The Sites column stacks the SharePoint Sites, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive sections; Libraries, Folders and Files each get their own column.

Each row shows the item’s icon and name — click it to open (files launch just like a double-click in the grid; containers navigate to that location in the active pane). Every row also has its own hover-revealed star on the right; click it to unpin. Emptying a column makes it disappear immediately, and unpinning the last item leaves the panel showing its empty state:

How favorites are stored

Favorites are device-local and scoped to your Microsoft account:

• They’re saved on this device (in Dockli’s local data) and are not synced to your other machines.
• They’re keyed to the signed-in Microsoft account. Sign out and your favorites are safe — they come back when you sign in again. Switch to a different account and you see that account’s favorites instead, never a mix.
• Pins update instantly across every Dockli surface — the grid star, the sidebar, the mega-menu — and across multiple File Explorer windows at once.

Under the hood Dockli persists your favorites through its local service at the /api/favorites endpoint, with a fast local mirror so pins paint on the very first frame. Nothing about a favorite is written back to SharePoint — pinning never changes the file or who else can see it.
