For everyone
What is Dockli?
Dockli is a Windows app that puts your Microsoft 365 files — SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive and Hub Sites — directly into the File Explorer navigation pane, with version history, metadata editing, and an optional AI assistant. See What is Dockli?.
Do I need admin rights to install it?
No. Dockli installs per-user with no local administrator rights, in about two minutes. See Installing Dockli.
What are the system requirements?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). WebView2 ships with Windows and .NET 8 is bundled in the installer, so there’s usually nothing to install. The full list is in Limits and specifications.
Does Dockli sync files to my disk?
No. Dockli is a live window onto Microsoft 365 — no sync folders, no duplicate copies on disk. Your files stay in Microsoft 365. See What is Dockli?.
How do I keep Dockli up to date?
You don’t have to do anything — Dockli updates silently in the background, roughly every 4 hours. See Installing Dockli.
What keyboard shortcuts does Dockli support?
The File Explorer shortcuts you’d expect — copy, cut, paste, select all, rename (F2), delete, back and search. The full list is in Keyboard shortcuts.
Which SharePoint columns can I edit?
Text, Number, Date & time, Yes/No, Choice, Multi-choice and single Person are editable; multi-Person, Hyperlink and Managed metadata are read-only. See Supported column types.
Can I copy files between different SharePoint sites or tenants?
Yes — cross-site and cross-tenant copy and move are included in both plans, within the batch limits (250 MB per file, 1 GB per batch, 50 files). See Limits and specifications.
Plans and billing
What’s the difference between Essential and Spark?
Essential is the full File Explorer experience for your Microsoft 365 files. Spark adds Ask Dockli, the AI assistant, plus priority support. See Plans.
How much does Dockli cost?
Per seat, per month (USD): Essential is $12, or $10 on an annual commitment; Spark is $17, or $14 annually. When you buy through the Microsoft Marketplace, Microsoft bills you in your local currency. See Plans and Pricing, billing and invoicing.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — your first month is free on every plan. Pay nothing during the free month and cancel anytime. See Purchasing and trials.
How does annual billing work?
The annual plan is a 12-month commitment at a lower per-seat monthly rate — still billed monthly, saving roughly two months’ cost (≈ 17–18%) versus the monthly plan (the exact percentage per plan is shown on the pricing page). See Currencies and invoicing.
Which currencies can I pay in?
Prices are published in USD. Buying through the Microsoft Marketplace, Microsoft bills you in your local currency at your market’s price. Direct invoice / PO customers agree a billing currency with the Dockli team. See Pricing, billing and invoicing.
How do I buy Dockli?
The fastest way is Microsoft AppSource — search “Dockli”, pick a plan and pay through your existing Microsoft account (first month free). Direct purchase on corporate invoice / purchase order is also available from the Dockli team. See Purchasing and trials.
Do you offer volume, education or non-profit pricing?
Yes — available on request when you buy directly. See Purchasing and trials.
How do I upgrade from Essential to Spark?
Change the plan on your subscription and assign users to Spark seats — no reinstall. You can upgrade some users and leave others on Essential. See Purchasing and trials.
Who handles taxes and refunds?
Taxes and refunds are handled on the Dockli invoice, per your jurisdiction and agreement. See Currencies and invoicing.
For IT administrators
How are seats assigned?
By membership of a Microsoft Entra security group you control. Add a user to grant a seat; remove them to reclaim it. See Per-seat licensing.
What if I add more people than I have seats?
Dockli raises an over-capacity alert to the admin at reconciliation. Add seats or trim the group to fit. See Per-seat licensing.
How often does licensing reconcile?
Roughly every 4 hours. Seats are sticky between cycles so users aren’t bounced by transient issues. See Access groups and seats.
Do I have to approve Dockli for the whole organization?
An administrator gives admin consent once, tenant-wide, so individual users don’t get consent prompts. See Deployment overview.
What hosts do I need to allowlist on the firewall?
A small, fixed set of outbound HTTPS/443 hosts. Essential needs the Microsoft, licensing, diagnostics and update hosts; Spark adds the AI and speech hosts. Full table in Endpoints to allowlist.
Can I push the installer to managed machines?
Yes — the per-user installer suits managed deployment, and you approve the app tenant-wide first. See Deployment overview.
For security and compliance
What can Dockli access?
Only what the signed-in user can already access. Dockli uses delegated permissions through Microsoft Graph — it never widens access beyond the user’s own Microsoft 365 permissions. See Security architecture.
Where are my sign-in credentials stored?
Sign-in is brokered through Windows (the WAM broker with MSAL), and the local cache is encrypted at rest with DPAPI, tied to the user and machine. See Security architecture and the Glossary.
Does the AI see files I can’t access?
No. Ask Dockli is scoped to files you can already see, and reaches Azure OpenAI through a governed gateway (APIM). See Ask Dockli overview.
Does Dockli open any inbound ports?
No. All traffic is outbound HTTPS on 443; the internal localhost:5050 channel never leaves the device. See Endpoints to allowlist.
What happens to my files if we stop using Dockli?
Nothing — your files always live in Microsoft 365. Ending a subscription, removing a seat, or uninstalling removes nothing from SharePoint, Teams or OneDrive. See Per-seat licensing.
What happens if Dockli briefly can’t confirm my license?
A 10-day grace window keeps licensed users working through transient outages before features stand down. See Licensing and entitlement.
Ask Dockli (Spark)
What can Ask Dockli do?
Scoped chat about your files, natural-language search, voice dictation, document diff and change summaries, and file attachments for instant answers. See Ask Dockli overview.
How many files can I attach to the assistant?
Up to 5 files per message, 50 MB each, with text extraction capped at ~48,000 characters per file (2,000 rows for spreadsheets, 200 pages for PDFs). See Limits and specifications.
